As an advocate for mental health, and after working in resilience among youth and families for over 20 years, I strongly endorse the this program. More than ever, students need support with mental health and wellness in order to navigate the daily challenges of life. This program not only provides a meaningful physical & mental wellness experience for students, but also elevates school communities by equipping both students & teachers with tools, skills, and resources to thrive.

As a pediatric occupational therapist working in schools, I have noticed this year, more than ever, children have difficulty regulating their emotions and sensory systems. The stress of the pandemic, uncertainty and changes at home, abrupt changes in routine and transitions, decreased access to their usual hobbies, sports, and social connections is taking a toll on the wellbeing of children. The curriculum has already positively impacted over 8,000 children in Calgary, and has the potential to support thousands more.

Social-emotional development is key for building coping capacity in human beings and essential when creating safe and conducive learning environments. This program equips students and educators with the tools to support self-regulation, foster positive relationships, build resilience, increase mindfulness and elevate self-connection and awareness.
